Use LinkedIn to Become an Expert

by Joshua Waldman on June 8, 2010

Employers have a very high perceived risk when they hire someone. Your job as the candidate is to alleviate that risk as much as possible.

If you were on Oprah talking about what you do in your career, your perceived risk would be very low. Wouldn’t you agree?

I’d like to introduce you to a feature in LinkedIn called “Answers“.

Answers is your opportunity to become the Obvious Expert with having to travel to Hollywood.

People post questions on a variety of topics, in almost any industry you can think of. Then, LinkedIn users volunteer an answer and strive to be as knowledgeable and resourceful as possible. The asker then rates the answers and chooses “The BEST answer”.

The winner of The Best Answer get’s something like this on their profile:

Dave Maskin | LinkedInGiving you instant credibility.

Your homework: Go find 1 question that you feel you might have a chance of answering better than anyone else and Answer it. There is nothing to loose and everything to gain.

Let me know how this goes for you? Feel free to share your comments below.
